Vanity Types & Fit
Bathroom vanities can be freestanding, wall-hung or built from cabinet modules with a separate top. The width, depth and plumbing location need to match the room so drawers, doors and nearby fixtures remain usable.
Full Bathroom Remodeling is separate when the layout, shower, floor and several fixtures are changing together.
Cabinet/Top Readiness
The vanity cabinet should sit level and stable before the top is installed. Wall-hung products need appropriate structural support, while freestanding cabinets may require fastening to prevent movement.
Stone or specialty tops can require fabrication and careful handling beyond ordinary cabinet assembly.
Sink/Plumbing Boundary
A vanity can include an integrated sink or support a separate vessel or undermount fixture. Water supply and drain positions affect whether the new cabinet fits the existing plumbing.
Relocating plumbing is not automatically part of vanity installation and may require a qualified plumber.
Mirror Size/Wall Support
Mirrors can be framed, frameless or integrated with cabinets. Weight, wall material and mounting hardware determine the support method, especially for large mirrors.
Electrical mirrors or medicine cabinets can introduce wiring that should be separately confirmed rather than assumed inside ordinary mounting.
Lighting/Outlet Conflicts
Mirror height and width need to coordinate with vanity lights, outlets and switches. A mirror that fits the wall dimension can still conflict with an existing fixture or electrical plate.
Moving electrical devices is separate regulated work and should be planned before final mounting.
FAQ
Can a new vanity reuse existing plumbing?
Sometimes, if the sink and cabinet align with the current supply and drain.
Does mirror installation include wiring a lighted mirror?
Electrical work must be separately confirmed.
Is countertop fabrication included?
Countertop fabrication is not automatically included with vanity installation. Stone or specialty tops can require fabrication and handling beyond ordinary cabinet assembly, so the cabinet, top and any fabrication work should be defined separately.
