Smart Home Devices Covered
This service is a general route for consumer smart-home devices that do not belong to a more specific security or electrical service. Examples can include hubs, assistants, selected sensors, plug-in cameras, smart thermostats or lighting controls when the project is primarily mounting, connection and basic setup.
Video doorbells, surveillance systems and smart locks have dedicated services under Electrical & Lighting. General electrical work also stays separate. The smart-home service does not become a catch-all for hardwired systems or every connected device on the market.
Compatibility and Wi-Fi Readiness
Before installation, confirm that the device supports the customer's phone platform, hub or wireless protocol and that Wi-Fi coverage reaches the intended location. Some products require a 2.4 GHz network, a proprietary hub or an existing compatible thermostat or switch system.
Account creation and passwords should remain under the customer's control. The service can guide basic pairing without recording credentials or taking ownership of private smart-home accounts.
Mounting vs Wired Installation
Some devices only need a bracket attached to drywall or wood, while others replace an existing wired thermostat, switch or fixture. The difference matters because permanent electrical work may require a qualified trade and should not be assumed to be part of a general smart-device installation.
Photos of the existing device and wiring location can help identify the likely scope. If new wiring, transformers or circuits are needed, that related work should be confirmed separately.
Hub/App Pairing and Basic Setup
After the physical installation, supported devices can be paired with the manufacturer's app or hub using normal setup steps. Basic settings such as room name, device recognition and connection status can be confirmed while the customer manages the account.
Advanced automation, custom programming or integration across many incompatible platforms should be scoped separately. A basic installation should not promise a full smart-home design service.
Electrical & Security Boundaries
Security cameras, doorbells and locks may collect video, audio or access information, so privacy settings and account ownership should remain with the customer. The installation service does not store recordings or passwords as part of routine setup.
Hardwired security panels, alarm monitoring, electrical panel work and new circuits fall outside ordinary consumer-device installation unless specifically confirmed. Not every smart product is a simple plug-and-play installation.
FAQ
Can devices be connected to Wi-Fi?
Basic pairing can be part of setup when the network is ready.
Do I need to share my password permanently?
No. Account credentials should remain under the customer's control.
Does this include new electrical wiring?
Not automatically; permanent wiring is a separate scope.
