TV Mount Types
TV mounts can be fixed, tilting or full-motion. A fixed mount keeps the screen close to the wall, a tilt mount adds vertical angle adjustment, and a full-motion arm extends or swivels the television. The mount needs to be rated for the TV size and weight and compatible with its VESA mounting pattern.
TV Stand & Media Furniture Assembly is separate when the television sits on furniture rather than being mounted to the wall. Home-theater design and larger AV systems also have their own scope.
Wall Material and Stud Planning
Drywall-mounted TVs normally need attachment to studs or another suitable structural system, while masonry walls use different hardware. Before drilling, the wall should be checked for stud position and likely utility conflicts.
A mount that does not align conveniently with studs may need an approved alternative solution or blocking. Do not assume that generic anchors are sufficient for every television simply because the bracket covers a wide area.
TV Height, VESA and Viewing Position
Screen height should reflect the room, seating position and whether a fireplace, console or other feature is below the TV. The center position can be marked before drilling so the customer can confirm the viewing height and horizontal alignment.
VESA hole spacing and mount capacity should be checked against the television model. If the mount is undersized or incompatible, that product mismatch should be resolved rather than modified.
Soundbar Mounting Options
A soundbar can mount directly to the wall below the television or use brackets that attach to the TV mount. The best option depends on the soundbar design, television position and whether the TV moves on a full-motion arm.
Alignment should allow the soundbar to remain centered and not block the screen or TV sensors. Powered audio connections and advanced calibration are separate from the physical mounting unless specifically included.
Cable Management & Electrical Boundaries
External cable channels, clips and routing can improve the appearance without modifying the electrical system. In-wall power extensions, new receptacles or hidden branch-circuit wiring are electrical work and are not treated as a routine part of TV mounting.
Low-voltage AV cabling may also need a separate plan if the customer wants wires concealed inside walls. It is important to distinguish cosmetic cable management from permanent wiring changes.
FAQ
Can a TV mount attach to drywall only?
The support method needs to be appropriate for the TV and wall; structural attachment is typically required.
Does mounting include a new outlet behind the TV?
Not automatically. New electrical work is separate.
Can the soundbar mount with the TV?
Yes, depending on the soundbar and bracket system.
