Fence Types
Residential fences can use wood pickets or privacy panels, vinyl, ornamental metal, chain link or mixed materials. The right service questions depend on whether the customer is installing a new fence, replacing a section or repairing posts, panels or gates on an existing system.
Fence Painting & Staining is separate because finish work does not correct failed posts or damaged panels. The installation service owns the structure and function of the fence.
New Fence Installation
A new fence begins with layout, material, height and gate locations. Post spacing and support depend on the system, while slopes and grade changes affect how panels or pickets follow the yard.
Property lines and underground utilities should be addressed before posts are placed. Surveying, utility marking and approval work are only included when they have been specifically confirmed for the project.
Post, Panel & Gate Repairs
Fence repair can involve loose or leaning posts, broken pickets, damaged panels, sagging gates, failed hinges or latches. The useful first question is whether the damage is isolated or whether several sections are moving together.
A gate may need hinge or frame correction rather than complete replacement, while a rotted post can require deeper work than replacing the visible panel. Repair should follow the failed component.
Repair vs Section/Full Replacement
Localized storm or impact damage can often be repaired by replacing a post, panel or section. Widespread rot, corrosion or repeated leaning can make larger replacement more practical.
Material matching also matters. Older fence profiles and colors may not have exact replacements, so section repair should be discussed with realistic expectations about appearance.
Property-Line, Utility & Approval Boundaries
Fence location can be affected by property lines, easements, utilities and neighborhood rules. Those conditions should be confirmed before a new layout is treated as final.
Surveying, permit filing and HOA approval services are not included unless specifically established for the project. Those responsibilities depend on the actual property and scope.
FAQ
Can a leaning fence be repaired?
Often, if the damaged posts or sections are limited and the rest remains sound.
Does installation include property surveying?
Surveying is separate unless specifically confirmed. Property lines, easements, underground utilities and neighborhood requirements can affect the fence layout, so those conditions and any approval responsibilities should be resolved before posts are placed.
Is fence staining part of this service?
No. Painting and staining have a separate service.
