Greenhouse Kits & Materials
Greenhouse kits can use aluminum, wood or steel frames with polycarbonate, acrylic or glass glazing. Small hobby units and larger walk-in greenhouses can have very different panel sizes and anchoring needs.
This service is for prefabricated kits. Custom conservatories and sunrooms have different structural and building-envelope requirements.
Base and Site Preparation
The greenhouse should sit on a level base that matches the kit, whether that is a prepared ground perimeter, slab, deck or manufacturer foundation system. Drainage and sunlight also influence the selected location.
Major grading, retaining work and custom foundations are separate from assembly unless they are explicitly included in the project.
Frame and Glazing Assembly
The frame should be square before glazing panels are inserted. Polycarbonate channels, seals and clips need the correct orientation so panels do not loosen or trap water.
Glass panels require careful handling and should not be forced into a frame that is out of square. Damaged glazing should be replaced before the structure is treated as complete.
Doors, Vents & Accessories
Doors and roof vents are added after the main frame is stable so their gaps and hinges can be adjusted. Automatic vent openers, shelves and small accessories can also be installed according to the kit.
Powered fans, heaters or irrigation systems introduce separate electrical or plumbing requirements and should be scoped beyond the basic structure.
Anchoring and Weather-Load Boundaries
Greenhouses are light relative to their surface area and can experience significant wind load. Anchoring should follow the kit design and actual base rather than using a generic stake method.
The installation service does not create its own wind or snow rating. Seasonal maintenance and weather use should follow the manufacturer's published limits.
FAQ
Can a greenhouse sit directly on soil?
It depends on the kit and its base requirements.
Does assembly include heaters or irrigation?
Those systems may require separate utility work.
Can damaged glazing be reused?
Cracked or unsuitable panels should be replaced rather than forced into the frame.
